Physiotherapy for small pets

The rehabilitation programme and training sessions we offer are accessible for everyone (also for patients not treated in our clinic).

A physiotherapy consultation takes between 15 minutes and 1 hour, depending on the therapy. During the first week it is common to train 4 times.

We work with a physiotherapy pass. The price varies according to the number of training sessions and the type of therapy. The physiotherapy pass is paid upon the first consultation and signed off with every practice.

What is physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy applies physical stimuli such as heat, cold, light, pressure or movement to prevent or improve disorders with regard to posture or the locomotor apparatus. Stimuli are given by means of manual or electric techniques (massage, movement therapy and hydrotherapy or physiotherapeutical devices such as ultrasound or thermal applications).

Why or when can pets benefit from physiotherapy?

  • Pain control
  • Loosening or strenthening of the muscles
  • Recovery promotion after orthopaedic surgery
  • For animals that cannot tolerate certain medication or show little to no response after taking medication
  • Hip dysplasia or arthrosis
  • Your pet limps or has a stiff foreleg or hind leg (or both)
  • After resting your pet has troubles getting up, he/she is less excited and lies down quickly again
  • Your pet has trouble with jumping or does not want to climb stairs
  • Your pet takes on another position when urinating or making a bowel movement
  • Your pet hops on its hindquarters like a rabbit
  • Your pet performs less with regard to sporting achievements
  • Your pet gets behind during walks
  • Your pet has a reduced support or rehabilitation goes slowly or with difficulty after orthopaedic surgery (e.g. femoral head excision)

How do we proceed?

It is very important to first make or find a diagnosis for your pet's problem. We work closely together with the department of orthopaedics and neurology in order to set up an accurate treatment plan.

Disorders that benefit from physiotherapeutic treatment are (among other things):

  • Acute injury/damage of muscles, joints, ligaments or tendons after an injury or accident
  • Inflammation of tendons, bursa or joints
  • Rehabilitation after fractures and surgery (e.g. cruciate ligament rupture /arthroscopic treatment of the fragmented coronoid process)
  • Anomalies of the joints, e.g. hip dysplasia
  • Arthrosis and geriatric complaints
  • Muscle disorders or diseases
  • Reduced sporting achievements

We dispose of the latest devices to help your pet rehabilitate as well and fast as possible. Specialist literature and professional trainings help us to always work according to the latest developments and trends.
